Greek Orthodox Easter…in Greece!

In April, Lefteris and I spent a week and a half in Greece – visiting the village where he spent a lot of his childhood, enjoying Easter (what an experience), and then traveling around a bit, including a couple of nights on Santorini – all with four of our great friends. It was just outstanding. He took me to Athens once before, but the islands…I can see how a person could get kind of addicted to seeing them. Seems like they all have a different flavor – and the whole place is so unbelievably beautiful.

I’ve posted my portfolio of the trip, so head on over to check out an assortment of shots. I’ll also be featuring a few shots in different blog posts.

I got a new lens: the Canon 50mm f/1.2L. It is the. best. lens. ever. The best. I’ve been renting this for just about everything, over and over, for years now. After the ZAAZ portraits, well, there were several of those that I shot with my cheapo 50mm f/1.8 that I really loved, and did a lot of work on. And I realized that not only would they have been better with a higher quality lens, but I wouldn’t have spent so much time on post production. Anyway, I ordered it in the US, and Katie brought it over to me in Greece, so I used it a TON. It did not disappoint.

I should also add that we participated in a Food Marathon. Lamb tender enough to be a white meat, octopus that was drying outside the restaurant before it was served to us, sea urchins pulled from the sea next to the restaurant by neighborhood kids right before they were served! Yogurt with honey! Lobster caught and served by the fisherman! Ouzo! SO MUCH!

There will most certainly be more from Greece in the future. :)
